Well here it goes. My last posting was the question if a Satio .30 4s has the power to pull a Magician. The answer was yes. But the nose would have to be shortened by about 1 1/2 inches. Well with the tank being a 2 oz Perfect I could only shorten the nose by 1 inch. With a little bit of goofing around with a sliding balance I figured out hopefully correct that by adding 3/8 of an inch to the fuse behind the TE and it should rebalance. Well the thing is in primer now and the balance is pretty close. Now here is where the questions come in. Its rather portly. Plans show a weight of 32oz. Right now just in primer it is at 36 oz. Just keep in mind this bird will only be a sport flyer and some thing to learn the pattern on. Is it going too heavy? Help is needed. Thanks all. Steve D.

I have two Magicians going right now. One is close to 40 ounces (Fox) with flaps, and flies fairly well. The other, flapless and OS 35-S, is in the low to middle 30s weight wise, and flies somewhat better.
You won't be in any trouble with your Saito-ed M. as a sport plane. One nice thing is that your Saito doesn't shake, rattle and roll like a Fox/Magician combo. All sorts of harmonic problems there. (You end up changing tanks, moving the engine Currell

I have two current flying magicians. Never weighed them, but one is fairly light and the other is really, really heavy. Both powered by old Fox .35s. The light one has never flown right (suspect I have a warp in the wing), but it's not terrible. The really, really heavy one flies absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't worry about the weight too much. By the time I realize a plane is getting heavy, it's usually too late to do anything about it anyway. Good luck.
