Let this thread die a quick and natural death. Does anyone remember when silkspan first came to the model world? And why? And what it is used for outside of our world?
I do remember that we called it that "teabag" covering material. Is that the source? Obviously some manufacturers have some capital invested in manufacturing equipment not justifed by our consumption of silkspan. What is it used for (commercially) today?
I think mid-fifties and teabags.
The "urban legend" was that a Lipton employee stole a roll of teabag material and covered a Fireball with it, after drilling holes in the solid wing to make it lighter. I am not saying I believe that legend.
Anyone know the truth?
