HI -- I was looking at a TT .46 Pro in an add for the first time the other day, and couldn't help notice the resemblance to the venerable Supertigre. Has anyone used one of these, or know about them??? Is it a baffle cross flow or a schnurley? You know, like the Max FP, or even worse, like the MAX FSR???? Even if it is, does it use ST mounts for a bolt in replacement? If so, may Len has a rework going on these? The carb/venturi looks the right height, so you wouldn't have to move your tank, even if you have to change your flying style from the 2-4-2 to the fast 4????

Well, there are a number of engines that I do or have done rework on that I haven't advertised as such, and this is one of them. In fact, I have even got one in stock. The reason I didn't advertise these, as such, is the Magnum .53 (now discontinued) is about the same physical size and the same weight, but more powerful. And cost was about the same. No, it doesn't have the same mount as the ST .46 (that would be too simple). It does match the Magnum XLA .40-.53, however, and the mount spacing is very close to the FP .35/40. I will get you exact comparisons afterwards. But it does make a nice running engine with run characteristics like my 35 FP. As with my other conversions, a 5.5 pitch is about right, and it will turn a 13 inch two or three blade.
I had a stock control line version on a 58" profile Time Machine. Boy did it make power, so much so that it ran through a 6oz tank of fuel in 4 minute. I had Len make me a venturi and that calmed the thing down to about 7-minute run on the 6oz tank and it still made good power. Unfortunately, it had an untimely meeting with the asphalt. (Pilot error)
I got another one but this time the r/c version, (it was cheaper and has the same cylinder liner) since I already had the venturi/needle valve assembly. Have not tried the new one yet.
