I'm going to Texarkana Tx. this weekend for their annual stunt bash. Two days of good food, friends and fellowship. Oh, yes the Stunt Planes too. Folks if you haven't been you are missing a great time for everybody.
John Gunn puts on a really nice contest, and on Sat night has a featured speaker.
I look forward to the first contest of the season (Dist 8) and to seeing my pals again with there new airplanes.
Hope to take some pictures and maybe get them on the web....

Hey Gil,

Lots of folks should show for this one. Weather is looking real good right now. Might be a little dicey on Friday for the early arrival folks but the weekend forcast is perfect. Mike Donovan is comming from Vicksburg and all the usual suspects from TX and Oklahoma. I'll be there Friday hoping to get in some practice. Most of us are going to be at the Quality Inn on Stateline Road and I-30. They have a special rate for the contestants.

There are a lot of good raffel prizes. I have four Fox .35s and four Kits and that is just for starters.

I had hoped to go but it didn't work out. I hope ya'll had better weather than we've had in Tulsa. It's rained here all day Saturday.

Despite dire forecast, weather was quite good. Nice practice Friday afternoon, occasional light rain Saturday morning, slightly breezy Saturday afternoon, stunt heaven Sunday.
Well attended and run, great bar-b-que lunch Saturday included in entry fee, bisucits and gravy each morning. Overall, a pleasant experience.
I don't trust my failing memory to post results but perhaps someone else will chime in with results and pics.

Slightly breezy Sat and stunt heaven on Sunday? Were you in Texarkana, Ark or TX? LOL. There is turbulence at that site that is always there, and if you can fly the pattern and not get blown out of it, you are a good to great flyer. I did see two days of four flights each and many, many really great patterns. Learned a lot. When you hear church bells and are having a hard time getting off the ground, stop, go to church as the rest of the day will only get worse, but then that is my karma at meets. LOL
Many thanks to John Ashford for pitting for me. Also poor Louis Rankin will never be the same after letting me ride 5 hours from Memphis to Texarkana with him. But hey, it was his idea. LOL

Ty,
Jim P. flies outta Topping Park in OKC, quite possibly the most difficult field in District 8 to fly from. When the winds are below 20 mph, Jim thinks it's stunt heaven.

With the wind out of the East on Saturday the East circle was a real bear to fly on. Tree line makes for some real interesting air. The West circle doesn't suffer as much. Sunday the wind was out of the North and very light. Would have been perfect if the temperatures would have been about 10 degrees warmer.

Fun, laid back contest. This year was a team effort to get it done due to John Gunn's work situation. Thanks to Dale and Linda Gleason, Bill and Rachel Wilson who helped John make it happen.

You thought Saturday was windy? I would still call it breezy, normal to what most around OK/TX/KS have to fly in most days. I noticed a little turbulence at the top but not bad.
Sunday was one of the best flying days I have ever seen anywhere. Great air, lots of lift, just enough movement to avoid wake turbulence, engines running very strong, and overcast so no sun problems.
You guys who live where nice weather and light winds prevail are very lucky.
