I printing the hotel/motel for the 2006 NW Regionals. I am not familiar with the new location for the Regionals. Which hotel/motel is the closes to the airport? Where are most of the contestant staying?

There are no motels really close to the airport. If you look on the list, you will see some on Gateway Street in Springfield. This is next to I-5 and a straight shot down Belt Line Road, a freeway, to the flying field. It's about a 15-minute drive. Also, motels on Coburg Road would be OK.

I'm at the Value Inn of Eugene. Right on 99 and probably the closest to the field. Looked clean and inexpensive anyway. Certainly not the Ritz

I'm with Randy at the Value Inn which I got for $45/nite on line.

If you telephone the rate is $50/nite....

Thanks for the tip Randy! See you there.

In general, I would not recommend the motels on Highway 99. Eugene is a beautiful city but, alas, the entrance to it via Highway 99 from the airport is its least attractive area. The Highway 99 motels may be OK, but their Internet sites are somewhat flattering.

John,

Well, it seemed clean and they are nice on the phone. I suspect we'll want to pack everything into the room at night since you're saying the neighborhood isn't the greatest, but I'm not going there for the room.

I will miss the Comfort Suites right next to the airport in Albany. 30 seconds from the field and they were nice rooms. Sigh... Guess you can't have everything.
