The "Encore" is done

This is a Allen Brickhaus design. It has a PA61 on a pipe. Its about 65 oz. Wing span 59.5, wing area 665 sq in, fuselage length 43.25
I used gold leaf on the nose and tail. Special thanks to Allen for another great design and Sina Goudarzi for help with the paint scheme.

Hi Tim

I found all the supplys at "Michaels". There are two types of adhesive for gold leaf. Brushable and spray. I thought spray would be the way to go. I was wrong, the leaf would move every time I picked the plane up. I removed it all and tryed the brush on type. I found it to work much better. I would mask an area off and brush on the adhesive. Remove the tape. Then place the thin gold leaf sheet over the area. Next I would use a one inch soft artist brush and burnish down the leaf. I would work the edges until it would break off and fly away. Then several layers of clear dope and sanding to smooth it out. Its not hard to touch up using the same method. I am helping Allen with a article for flying models. Which will cover building and flying the Encore.

Nice plane! I, too, like the gold leaf effect. I used it on my Green Box Nobler last year and got lots of positive comments. Just a hint, if you leave the tape on and do the leaf, then pull it back on itself, it will cut the leaf just like it does paint. Gives a nicer line for the leaf. Good job............RJ

The Encore is essentially a Bob Hunt Genesis 46. You can't miss with that one.

Yes, the heritage of the Buccaneers, Scepters, Legacys and now the Encore are of the lineage of the Genesis line. Very respectable model with tweaks to satisfy the desires of myself and the modelers I am attempting to reach. Walter Umland and I were in discussions of kitting the Encores (665 and 555 square inches) in his line of models before the decided to get out of the business. Hope Michael enjoys the flight characteristics.
