The favorite hobby shops thread reminded me: While visiting the NW Regionals in Eugene, Ore., fliers will want to take an excursion downtown to Eugene Toy & Hobby, a very good hobby shop that carries a lot of CL supplies. The shop has been operated by the same family for 70 years. The third generation, Mark and Paul Agerter, now are the proprietors. They are large donors to the Regionals, helping with prizes and in other ways. These are really nice guys, as are the rest of the hobby shop crew, and it's a fun shop to visit. Entry packets at the Regionals site will contain a map as to how to get there. ETH will order anything you want that they don't have in stock, and will ship items nationwide. I'm not getting paid to deliver this commercial ... I just really like the shop. They've been good to me for 29 years!

Flying Lines Forum, so I took that and printed my own map to ET&H. If you're looking for me on Thursday afternoon, that's where I'll be. Looks like following 99 SE from the airport takes you pretty close...should be a snap.

Randy, ETH will not have a truck at the field this year. They did consider it and may do it in the future. It involves a lot of work for them, and they price stuff so that they don't make a lot of money doing it. I gather from talking to Mark that the main problem is that they have to ask their staff to work overtime on the weekend, and whether they have the truck or not is a matter of enough people volunteer to give up their weekend. It didn't happen this year. The hobby shop will be open on Friday and Saturday, though, for anyone who wants to visit.

I just remembered ... I believe Mark told me that everything will be on sale during the contest. Make sure you mention you are in town for the Regionals when you go to the shop.

Alan, ETH carries Sig fuel, and usually quite a few varieties. They have some other brands, too, though I haven't noticed what they are.
Scott, yes, there will be food at the contest: A deli wagon will have sandwiches and drinks. There is a pretty good restaurant at the airport terminal, a short distance from the flying field.
