Will has a device on his Electric Nobler that records and displays power usage during the pattern. Slick stuff attached is a graph of power usage and you can pick out the maneuvers one by one.

IIRC, Will's device is made by Eagle Tree Systems, out in Washington state. They also do UAV/RPV work.

Maybe you could wander down there and ask them if it can be rigged to record other things, like, say, RPM or control deflection.
