Where to go where pitching a 14

I have a Prather pitch gage, but I need to pitch a 13 1/2" and a 14" prop. What do I do to handle the larger props? Thanks

Use bass wood and make new slots on the end for station 14 and 15.

Doesn't the pitch scale then no longer read correctly? or is there a ring for 14"?

I set my props up on a block and use a adjustable drafting tiangle to read the angles. Then convert to pitch for each station.

I think Brett uses small triangles cut fom cad stock the same way..

the angle for a given pitch should be the same for a given radius from the center regardless of the overall diameter. On a 14" prop you could use the 12" slot but wouldn't have measurements for the last inch or two. Unless you are changing pitch up or down at the tip for a specific reason it should get you close enough.

I understand that...but the suggestion from Doug was to add slots so he could measure the tip stations.

Mine method is not really scientific but it seems to work for me. I set the pitch at the farthest out point to what I want. I then make sure the blade has a consistent twist out to the tip. I then put the prop on the plane and see where it stands. If I need a major tweak, I then change station 13 and leave the tip alone. If a minor one is necessary, I just move the tip ever so slightly.
