Thanks for sharing,really interesting reading. That someone would keep a journal for that long and that detailed is to me quite extraorinary.

Heck, I can remember standing out in the back yard as a wee lad, watching groups of F4Us, F6Fs and P-47s drone overhead. Sure didn't hate 'em. Quite the contrary, in fact. It was the beginning of a life-long love affair with radial engines.

But then, our little South Jersey town wasn't subjected to aerial attacks. I may have had a different opinion of radial engines had they been powering FW-190s or Mitsubishi 00s.
