This year the engine was changed to an OS 25 LA, with good results. There were four entires (all successful) in the opening event.
Compared to the Fox, speeds were more consistant and pitting was much less punishing.
The winner was Brad LaPointe with an AFR Streak (the intended "single design" of the event). Steve Stafanovich and Chris Brownhill were 2nd and 3rd with old, re-engined Fox sport racers.
The problem with the Fox is that thousands were produced over the last 50+ years and some go, while most don't. There are so many design varients that it's virtually impossible to police a "stock engine" rule. New ones list for $100 and are often discounted to $60.
The LA costs a uniform $59.95 and they're all pretty much alike.
There were four 70 lap (2 up) races and a 140 lap (3 up) final. The 20-25 K wind provided some excitement, but no blood.
We hope for more entries now that the concept has been proven.
