Anyone tried removing the wrinkled clear cover on U-Keys using a monokote style iron with a sock? Then recovering with ultracote or monokote?

A flying prune turns me off.

The wrinkles are like the dimples in a golf ball. They make it fly better

You can use an iron on low setting and peel the covering off. I've done it. But test on scrap 1st of course. You will find that a good portion of the covering will peel off without heat as you pull on it but other area's will stick more. Good luck. I have 2 Ukey .15's and 2 Ukey .35's and 1 Ukey .40 all bought directly from Joe Just. All have been crashed and rebuilt, some more than others but all still live. One of them I modifed into what I call a P-Ukey .35 where I removed the nose wheel and put wheels in each wing like the P-51. It worked awsome. I believe Joe used FASCAL (John Thompson sells it) to cover his Ukey's. I have also used Towerkote to cover foam and it works well as it is low heat.

Not sure if standard monocote is useable on foam (isn't low heat stuff). Lightly spray foam wings with 3M Super 77 and let dry for about 2 hours before applying ultracote. The iron heat will rekindle the cement...covering sticks better.
