Well I got my second day of flying in last weekend,, I am so totally hooked again, cant think about anything else,, sigh.
I went to Pasco to fly with the new club there again. Actually went to watch my son play football on saturday night, ( league championships, they won soundly!!) and gosh since I was already in Pasco decided to stay and go flying on Sunday,, seemed silly to drive 2.5 hours home at midnight you know *wink wink*. anyhow, Dave graciously put me up for the night and off we went sunday to fly. I should mention the sight they have to fly is awesome, huge level parking lot that the city swept and helped them paint a circle on. We set up our cones and got flying, we use about 1/6 of this parking lot for a circle. there was a soccer competition going on during this time and many many people stopped to watch and ask questions about what we were doing, was a very positive experience, until,,,,a young lady drove up and said she was in charge,, (um not likely since we know who is in charge) and said we had to leave that we were interfering with her tournament,, sigh,, make a long story short, we packed up and moved,,why make waves you know,,
anyhow, we moved to the other side of the center on the grass,, nice low cut,, level huge grass lot. worked well. until the sprinklers came on,, hmmmm interesting,, we timed them as each set switched over,, gave us about an hour and a half before they intruded,, so we got in many flights.
As stated this was my second weekend back flying since, hm think it was about 81 that i flew much, got in six flights, including fig 8's, some inverted,, even got some negative altitude inverted in,, snapped the tail off the P-40,, a little super glue and all was good again,, got in a couple more flights, sure is addictive, I forgot how really enjoyable this whole hobby is,, people and planes, it dont get no better. Dave Miller flew his Fancherized twister, he really is doing well with this plane,fox .35 powered, unfortunatly the engine quite cold on the uphill side of a wingover, he did avert total disaster by quick reflexes and appears a new mon$kote skin will fix it *whew* coulda been much worse it was headed straight down from the top!. he also got in several flights on his ARF tutor too with LA 46 power, APC 11X4 prop, what a solid combo this appears to be in the air. Mike Fitzgerald flew his Oriental with a Fox.35 (APC 10X5) another nice looking combo in the air, makes me want to get my Oriental flying. another interesting event, Dave got an aquaintence of his who flys RC, George Engel, to take his Joe Just Ukey .15 up, his first flights since he said 1968!! looked like he hadnt forgotten anything, another retread gets the bug!anyway this is long winded enough, just wanted to say thanks for all that welcomed me back to this awesome hobby, I need to get to work on my twister,, need to have a backup for the next time I pull up instead of down while inverted, sigh,, and thanks again dave! I should mention, my plane is a Goldberg (i think,,,,) P-40, I built it about 12 years ago so I dont remember with an LA 25, stock muffler, on 58 foot lines, started with an apc 95, then a 94, then now finally an APC 10 X4 which pulls great over the top now ,, i like it.
