WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT OUT AND THANK THE MANY MANY PEOPLE THAT KNEW DAD AND MOM. THEY WERE VERY SPECIAL TO US AS WELL AS YOU ALL WE WILL ALL MISS THEM VERY MUCH. ED JR IS STILL HAVING A TOUGH TIME DEALING WITH THIS GREAT LOSS I AS HIS WIFE FOR 24 YEARS AM TRYING VERY HARD TO HELP HIM GET THROUGH THIS. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL WHO HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO CALL SEND LETTERS WRITE LITTLE NOTES AND STOP BY TO CHAT THIS MEANS ALOT TO HIM AND HELPS HIM GET THROUGH THE DAYS. WE HAVE BEEN INVITED TO ATTEND THE FLYING EVENT YOU ALL WILL HAVE IN TUCSON IN MARCH AND WE WILL BE THERE ED JR & I ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING THE GREAT FLYING FAMILY THAT DAD & MOM HAD ENJOYED FOR MANY YEARS. Ed Jr. and Kim,

How wonderful that you will attend the Vintage Stunt Championships in Tucson next March. Nothing would make us all happier than to meet the two of you and to share our memories of Ed and Helen. We've all suffered a great loss with their passing and will grow spiritually through spending time together and exchanging our thoughts and prayers for them. The opportunity for you to meet all the modelers who cherished them, and for us to embrace you both as their heritage and a reminder of how special they were, will ease the pain of our loss to all who loved them.

As you will learn, the event in Tucson is special to a lot of very wonderful people who look forward to each March not because of the airplanes but because of the chance to spend time with kindred spirits. Not all of those spirits have earthly presence anymore; that doesn't make their presence any less special.

GORDY I HAVE TALKED WITH BILL AND HE IS PLANNING ON COMING OVER THE WEEKEND OF THE 15TH. MAYBE BILL HAS ALREADY CONTACTED YOU IF YOU CAN COME WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU. AS WE TOLD BILL WE HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM AT THE FOLKS HOUSE YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO STAY THERE. ED & KIM

I can’t really explain why I so personally mourn the loss of Ed Southwick and his dear wife. You see, I never met the man in person.

Maybe it’s because of the winter I spent with my father building our first “real” stunt airplane, a Southwick Skylark.

I guess Ed was the reason for one of my fondest childhood memories, and he did not even know it. Now I will never get to tell him.
