Great Web Site

Looked at a web site that is pretty neat. They have CAD plans. how to's. It's RC Combat but what the heck.

It's a good site. But "professional" is a funny word here.
I think Leonard's site, my site, and the others, represent
a lot of what's best about the web. It's not all the
"professional" sites, where you buy this or that,
read advertising, pay for porn, or whatever.
It's the people who spend their own free time
to document (or share, if you prefer) what they
really care about. And because they care, they work hard at it,
and the results can be very fine --
much better than mere professionals.

We think about CL, or perhaps modeling, but there's communities
out there dedicated to every imaginable hobby. And that's
really very good. Helps preserve the culture and allow
it to grow (versus fade away, homoginized into what works
for TV).

Of course, the great thing about this site is the large number
of people that chip in and make it grow.

If you break the RCCA site down, you'll find common interest articles, a guest and soapbox forum and also a Forum that is fairly much the same software as Flightlines, but Combat specific. There are some variances, one of which being the SPAD section, the heaviest posted section of the Topic Forum. Doug Hacke is the Web Manager and does a really good job at it.

But it's nice to have variety too and I like this forum and others, too much time on the puter, not enough flying.

Yup. I meant to say that I prefer the work of a
non-professional (i.e., working for love) than
a professional (working for mere money).

But of course you are right that the web site is very well done,
without the usual embarassing misteaks that detract from
many other efforts.
