I am fitting a rod from a S.T. G21 35 to an O.S. Max 35S. This requires reaming the lower end to .250". My question is how much clearance do you need between the crankpin and the rod bushing.

Be careful when you do this, youll need about .0015 to .002. The problem with using the st rod in the max case is you have to relieve the case for rod clearance at the bottom of the rod. Has to be done on a mill.Hope this helps.

The rod I got from GMA was a drop in. I don't know what else he did to it, but he didn't mention doing anything but reaming the lower end. If it doesn't clear, i'll know about it real quick.

While I am stunned, Gordie did in fact give you the right numbers for clearance at big end of rod.
