In addition to all those OTHER events like OT, Classic, Profile 40, and the usual complete PAMPA classes, there will be 1/2 A, and LEPRECHAUN AEROBATICS!
Interest in this event is definitely growing, and I have seen at least 4 individuals flight testing and practicing specifically for this event. I have rumors of some out-of-towners who want to take the Pot 'o Gold home with THEM. We'll see how that all comes out when the dust clears.
For those who tuned in late:
Leprechaun is any replica of an OT or Classic model design that is powered by a .061 or smaller engine. (Profile versions of full fuselage models don't qualify as a replica) Any scale from -0 to +infinity allowed, including 1:1. For example, the Wee Duper Zilch, as designed will fly great with a modern .061, even though a Cub .099 was originally specified. Don Butman flies a scaled down Nobler, and won it last year. You could scale a 1/2A Snapper up to 250 sq. in and have a winner too.
1/2A is ANY model that is powered by a .051 or smaller engine. You can easily have a model that qualifies for both events. Don's Nobler being a fine example, with Norvel .049 power in an accurate replica Classic.
AMA rules apply on line weight. The only change to normal stunt event rules, is that we allow pit stops. You are judged on the first takeoff and last landing, as long as total flight time is under 8 minutes like normal.
This allows those who have them to fly C*x reed-valve planes that have too small a tank to do the whole pattern. There must be a million Brodak models out there you can fly as a result.
