Tower will not charge your card until the item ships

Have you tried asking them to credit your card and not charging until the item ships?

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

Or you could pick up the phone and call them,if you haven't already.
The majority of them don't want an unhappy customer.

Hobby People's web software tells you if the item is in stock or not, like Tower's, and allows you to backorder, but it doesn't seem like they prefer that. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them, some was out of stock, and they offered me the option of shipping all together, when it was in stock, or just shipping what was available. Shipping costs encouraged me to take the lump option. It should be possible to go into my account and change that, if I want, but I haven't (yet). No charge until it ships, anyway. That's the way it should work, IMO. Steve

I ordered some stuff from Lonestar Balsa 2 weeks ago. The shipment came in a week, but they goofed on a roll of Monokote - wrong color. I emailed them about it, and got the correct color in one more week. They haven't charged me for the new shipment yet, so I will call them on Monday. They did goof, but fair is fair. I will pay them for the product, but not the shipping. After all, I want them to be there the next time I need something. Who, actually, is the vendor you are having trouble with?

My experience with Lonestar is that they eat their mistakes. Great people to deal with and very good prices. I hope that they can keep this up.

I had my own business for 6+ yrs, I always ate my mistakes, wasn't my customers fault. On the other hand if my customer made a mistake
we worked it out, resulted in a very loyal customer base.

The model vendors I have dealt with are very straight. Some have shipped even though my card didn't go through - then we sorted it out later.

I quit doing buisness with a on line vendor for that very reason, charged my account the day after the order was placed even though he was out of stock, and didn't bother to tell me he had to order it.

Not a problem I've often seen. Over here in the UK it's illegal for any vendor to do that. They are not permitted to charge for goods until the goods are ready to ship.

When I next order anything from the US I'll have to remember that vendors can do this to me .

Try Sam's Stuff in Missouri (www.sshobbies.com). When I ordered a kit from them they not only tossed-in a couple of free gifts but also enclosed a $20 bill, saying I'd overpaid on the requested Fed-Ex shipment.
