A while back I posted a message asking for help with a problem I was having with my Saito 40a. To recap the problem it would run the first 10 to 12 laps rich and then pick up revs and go like a bandit. Here are the suggestions I recieved, first upgrade the intake manafold and carb to the UHP setup, second get rid of the uniflow tank and replace it with a R/C clunk, and finally switch from a fuel containing castor oil to a pure synthetic based fuel. In fact the Y.S. 4C blend from Powermaster was recommended.

Well I did all of this and things improved greatly, the only additional change was to take the prop size down from a 11x5 (master airscrew) to a 10x6 (master airscrew). The engine now holds a consistent setting from start to finish and can really focus now on the airframe trim. The only additional recommendation from my flying buddy Larry Renger was to go down another inch in prop diameter and richen up the mixture a little more. I will try this out next time I go flying.
Anyway thanks for the help.
