Weeeeellll, I got my camera fixed and took a few pictures, as mentioned in a past thread. Currell Pattie, our local Muscianomeister, gave me the theory along with some other hollow logic is a late-hour phone call.
I was in a big hurry (a panic) to get some testing done for the K-Zoo-Musciano. I threw this together out of avialable bits without spending a cent. It worked 100% perfect from the first trial.
The deck is a piece of old cabinet wood, 31" x 17". It's clamped onto a Harbor "work mate" with a deck elevation of 30". The work mate was originally employed as an engine test stand.
The business end is assembled from nose wheel steering bearings, wheel collars, a compression spring, and coat hanger wire.
The carpet is necessary to keep the plane stable during runup. Without it, the plane vibrates around and ends up pointed in.
Not pretty, but very functional. Giving up a little altitude for a lot of airspeed is a key element.
