This is a program that our AMA began several years ago. It allows the "Intro Pilot" to monitor students/interested folks without the requirement that they have AMA membership. Ostensibly to allow casual observers to try their hand at the hobby / sport without a large expense.
There are applications available on the AMA web site. Written, it seems, as a guide to rc types, I have telephoned our AMA for clarification. The jist is:
with proper paperwork done (name, address, etc.) a person may become a temporary member, excepting for competition, for a period of 30 days. The Intro Pilot must be observing / supervising the flyer being introducted, but, in controline, he/she needn't accompany the flyer into the circle.
It's a wonderful thing, and costs an additional $5.00 with a limit of three per Club.
In today's litegious society, we should take all of the precautions that we can.
