I just got home from the Skylarks fun fly in western PA. What a fun day! About 20 flyers, 2 circles. It all starts again on Sunday.
John & Buzz Brodak were here. The new Brodak .40 production engines were for sale. Phil Cartier got # 1, I got # 2. Gil Reedy got # 3, then he put it in his Twister & flew it 5 flights. Looking like a great engine.

What, no break-in?

They ran 1 tank of fuel then flew the pattern.It took about 4 flights for the engines to start running well.

I'm going to run mine on the bench for a while first.

As the main organizer of this event I must now declare it a success as we all had a fine time. There were 49 planes on the field and most all flew over the two days. John's new engine is a fine power plant with no nasty traits so far. I was able to fly mine on my FW 190 Brodak warbird after the manditory one run on the ground! I now have 8 flights logged. It is still getting better with each run. I had a K&B .40 dykes ring "new" style up front. The Brodak .40 enabled me to remove a net of 3.45 ounces from the overall load. It is equally happy with an 11 X 5 as well as a 10 X 6 BYO. The existing tank was a 4.75 oz.capacity. On a full load the Brodak .40 ran for almost 12 min.! More as this saga unfolds.

What a great time! I was truly impressed by the way the event was run as well as the Skylark members and the flying field. I will definitely be back next year.
Along with quite a few local flyers, Buzz & John Brodak came up - his new .40 impressed a lot of people - Right out of the box with minimal break-in, it shows substantial promise as a light, smooth running stunt powerplant.
I will add that the perfect day was followed by a perfect evening hosted by Sondra(sp?) and Phil Spillman.
