Diesel T bird

I've got a Thunderbird which, if my new Nobler performs, is about to become 'excess to requirements'. Time to try that diesel experiment I've been promising myself.

Any suggestions for a stunt diesel that'd drag a Thunderbird around?

Tower 40 with an RJL diesel head. 9,200 on a 13 x 5 Zinger. Got to get mine on an airplane. If not that probably a PAW 40.

That sounds mighty interesting Jim. Any websites I can look at? Where would I get such a beastie? It sounds a bit much for the poor old T-bird but I've got a model here that used to be dragged around by a ST 46 - with a prop that size at those revs, I suspect the Tower might just do the job.

Nah. Tower .40 is no longer made (try the search). You might find a used one or an OS .40FP, which fits the same head from RJL. The R/C guys apparently didn't appreciate the engine, bad throttle or something. I think that would be my choice for a T-bird, but would require 3 blade or 4 blade props. Weight would be ok, esp. with a 2 oz (or so)tank. Steve

I understand the Tower 40 is no longer available, although there are probably many out there. The RJL head www.mecoa.com is for the OS FP40, so I expect it might fit some other clones.

Jim, The head for the tower 40 fits th OSFP40 and the FSR 40 also the Thunder Tigre 40 GP, or almost any of the OS clones. Dennis
