Via Ebay we got a new Super Tigre Blue head rear exhaust motor. On engine it says "SERIE X G45". On the box it came in it says "SERIE X .45 F.I.S.P." We want to know applications for this motor.

Make a good stand to mount it on, and it makes a good mantle piece. If you have got a couple of other engines you aren't using, park them along side for comparison. It makes a good conversation starter for that Valentine's party you were planning to hold. And, with more and more people going into engine collecting, it could become a good investment ten years down the line. Just like the Marines looking for a few good men, we all should be looking for a few good engines just to keep in our engine collection.

What we want to know is if this is a control line engine usable for stunt flying, or if it's a racing engine. It came with standard papers, nothing in them that specifically covers what this engine is for, or any specs, which would really help. If no one knows anything about this Super Tigre 45, we can order mimiographed copies of the booklet that originally came with this. It would be very nice if we could go to Super Tigre website and download a copy of the papers. We've been able to do that for numerous products, like our phone and some small kitchen appliances. Very helpful. It wasnt even Super Tigre website that had the mimio. copies for sale. HELP

It's a hot rod, speed engine.

Thanks, Randy, that's more or less what we guessed it was, but wanted someone who might know more about it to confirm. What are they used in?

Mostly sport RC and some high performance applications. Might make an ok tuned pipe engine if it wasn't so heavy. It's an awefully big engine (an heavy) for a .45.

Since there's no CL speed or racing event for .45's...and you didn't say that it DIDN'T have a throttle...I'd say it's definitely an R/C engine, that might be ok for a ducted fan unit, or a hotrod (fast) sport model. You could legally use it in Navy Carrier, but it would suffer from using larger lines than a .40 and have to compete against .61's. It would make a good boat engine if fitted with a waterjacket, and there the class break is for .45's for some reason I fail to see. You COULD fly CL Sport with it...something like a scaled up combat model would be fun. Stay away from profiles, tho, the vibration would be too severe. How about a tether car? Ciao, Steve

I apologize for my flippant answer before, but I am still all for placing it on your mantel. This, appears, to be one of those engines that is now in our possession and we are now seeking a purpose for which to use it when there are better engines available for most any normal application. It is not suitable for use as a good stunt engine, can't be used for combat, not even a good sport engine. It is the wrong size and obsolete for speed purposes, not a good pattern engine for RC, not even good for scale applications.

If you got a good deal on it, there will be some collector willing to give you more for it at a later date (how many of us have one of those in our collection?) and, as such, keeping it is its best condition would seem to be the way to go. My advice is to happily display it on your mantel as something "different" and tell your wife it is an investment (Which it may, indeed, some day be.)

I flew a Super tigre X45 F.I.R.E. in a Diamond Dust. R.C of course. This is a very high performance engine, we were able to get close to the magic 200 MPH with it. it really does run well with high nitro ,small props. Unfortunately it needs a new piston and liner now. but did give us a lot of fun

Thanks to all who responded, especially L Neumann who is pretty funny as well as helpful. My husband says to tell you it is me, not him, although I was just finding info for him, the flier. He earns the money, I spend it on the plane stuff, and he builds and flies 'em. Pretty good deal.

My all time favorite X serie ST was the X60 FIRE. Turned money into smoke and noise with great ferocity. In a fast pattern plane like a Dirty Birdy it would make grown men's knees shake...Pure testosterone.

Now that you've identified yourself as the better half of the team, I have a question for you. Given the facts of your arrangement with your spouse and the fact that I'm currently single, would you happen to have an unattached sister of the same inclination?

Are you saying there's a shortage of single female type people in Alaska? Is it snowy/ice conditions there? We saw some skiis for airplanes at a hobby shop visit yesterday. Label said "So you can fly your plane all year round". As for a sister, no, just brothers. You can get most anything off the net nowadays, so keep trying, but be careful what you ask for, you might get it. Not always a good thing, we just happen to be lucky.
