Stalker Question

Have any of you tried a Stalker rear exhaust engine on a pipe? I've seen some European types doing this. What kind of performance? Props?

Derek Pickard reported in Stunt News on a revised Stalker .61 on a pipe, but they had to increase the blowdown to make it do anything good, as I recall. I'd vote to buy a complete package or at least assemble a powertrain from known components, like the OS .40VF, with all bits that are known to work. I thought you had one of those VF's, or did you sell it to Scott Riese? Steve

Nope. I sold the OS .40VF I had to Jim Welch. He's putting it in an Impact. I've got a PA.40 and a PA.51.

Just asking about the Stalker. I have a Stalker .61RE. I tried it today on a Smith 60 size "Diamondback" pipe with a couple of carbon props. Sucker sure has lots of torque. Ran at a pretty consistent 10,400 with a 12x4 3 blade. About 9,900 with a 13x4 3 blade. Great gobs of torque. I'm finishing up a plane that is set up for a PA engine. Just deciding if I wanted to also allow for the Stalker just as a test. I sure like this engine and wanted to try it.
