Coy Lady" for building project?#0 source

I would like to build a straightforward, upright-engine full-fuselage flapped stunter this winter. I have been circling around the available designs, and keep coming back to this one. So, a couple of questions for the jury: (1) any particular quirks about the airplane? It looks quite straightforward, in a photo anyway. I think someone won Oz's nationals last year with one powered by a Fox .35. This brings up my second question, what to power the little beast with? A photo I found in a current English magazine shows one that travelled from Canada for flying last summer, powered by a OS .46 LA engine, which seems a bit much on the face of it. I have my original Fox .35 from kid days in 1962, a nice new 50th Anniversary Fox .35, and my Enya .29 or Enya .35. All of which will need running-in in varying amounts. Thanks to all.

Yes, Mark Batty won F2B at the 2000 Australian Nats with a Fox 35-powered Coy Lady. The engine has a hemi head and stuffer backplate. I agree that a 46LA seems a bit big. In fact, a good number of people are using OS, Magnum and Thunder Tiger 25s where a Fox 35 once went.

The design was first published in 1959 so you should be able to trim a bit of weight from the model by using modern building techniques and use your favourite among your 35s.

I recently got the plans for Coy Lady & Coy Kat from Xlist plans service.

The Coy Kat is from 2 years later than the Lady and has a swept forward T/E and looks to be a bit more developed than the lady.

I also remember that a semi-scale version of the basic wing and tail setup with 'jap fighter' looks existed with a radial cowl, unfortunately Xlist plans tell me the drawing for this was not passed over to them!

The Lady shows a McCoy 35 and the Kat a Merco (I think judging by the outline).

According to Dave Day's excellent site Ray Brown won the 1960's Gold Trophy at the UK Nats with a McCoy 35 powered Coy Kat and is still active in R/C helicopters!
