Wing jig

Gents,
I plan on building the wing jig that Len has a link to on his main page. The question is to those who have built one and those who know more than I(lots of you). Is there any modifications to the jig that would be to benifit of the user? Thanks Steve D.

This jig is a descendant of the 70s vintage RCM Trainer wing jig that used heavy piano wire for the rods, and chip board for the base. It is cheap and easy to set up. The caveats are: be sure the rods you use are straight, the holes in the ribs have to be right on, and use plenty of supports in the middle to be sure the rods aren't sagging. I used to cut a spacer block of 1/4" ply or balsa to get the ribs spaced out right. Windy Urtnowski has a video showing the construction of the Miss Ashley wing using the same concept, except the base block is an enormous slab of granite, the end supports 3/4" aluminum plates, and the rods 3/8" stainless steel rods! This thing must weigh 100+ pounds. It's a good system, just do lots of measuring to be sure things are true.
