#0 source Last night I covered my latest project with polyspan, wing, stab and fin. In 2 hours I had all the surfaces covered and two coats of clear dope. I used the iron on method. I thinned some contact cement to a brushable consistency and applied two coats to a 1" band around the perimeter of the wing that the outlines of the stab and fin. It irons on perfectly. With a little care you can remove all the wrinkles with an iron.
My other ships were covered with medium silkspan and I managed to put something (usually my thumb) through the covering before I ever got in the first flight. I will never use anything but polyspan from now on. I did'nt check the weight but I can't imagine that the stuff weighs more than silkspan, and it is much tougher, but not bulletproof--I still poke holes through it DT'ing in FF, but not as many as with other coverings. Sometimes instead of breaking it just dents, and you can remove these with an iron.
