What size aluminum landing gear for a S-6 Rinmaster?

I'm the process of building a S-6 Ringmaster for nostalgia reasons. I would like to use the aluminum type of landing gear instead of the 1/8" wire type.

I've never used or bought aluminum gear, so my question is what size should I be looking for and where to find it? I appreciate you help. Thanks!

Having said that... I believe Brodak sells the gear used in his kits and the 38 Special has what you might be looking for.

Sig also sells aluminum gear. The Sig Fazer gear works well for most profiles in 35-40 size, is very durable, and reasonable. They also have a variety of aluminum gear for built up fuse models with pertinent demensions in their catalog. Order by phone only 800 247 5008. Shipping is fast.

Both answers work. I've got a SIG Fazer LG on my Banshee, with the legs slimmed down in width. I increased the bends a bit, to get a wider track, and still have clearance for an 11" prop. I do
like a bit of extra clearance, and also the wider track. IF you want to bend your own, look for some 6061T6 aluminum about .080"
to .093" thick. This is the stuff that most, if not all, commercial LG's are made of for models, simply because it can be bent without annealing and re-heat treating, and it works fine.
The surface has what appears to be a "brushed" finish. This is the grain direction from the rolling process, and you should make it go the length of the legs, not across. Hope this helps someone. Steve O'Bat

I'd overlooked that "S-6" thing before, but it now strikes me that I really have no idea what Sterling's numbers other than S-1 and S-1a were for. Which one was the "6" ? Was that the Junior?

I had to go to my trusty America's Hobby Center catalog from the mid-60s.

It's the (trumpets, drumrolls...) Super Ringmaster. And, yes, it would look nice with solid LG struts.

But it wouldn't be exactly original.

Oops! Sorry for the lack of information Currell & Kiwi. Yes, you are right...It is the Super Ringmaster.

After some thought, the model would look better as an original. My first thoughts were that I only fly from grass and at times it is rather tall.

I didn't want to bend anything too easily and end up with a cracked fuselage.
