Here's another shot.

The flying surfaces are transparent yellow monokote over lightly doped silkspan. Trim on them are Kote and Ultrakote. The fuse is LusterKote.
I'll be posting these to the Legacy product report.

Actually that's not blue, the camera fails to pick up on the metallic purple. I too hope the LusterKote doesn't go to a dark shade. I've never had this problems with the several planes I've finished with LusterKote, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Sure hope not though.
As soon as I can fly it a few times, I'll report on the Stalker, and the flying characteristics.
And Yea, all the snow here in the valley has melted. Supposed to get some, probably over the weekend again. Temps are not bad, lows in the 20's and highs the last few days in the 40's and 50's. Maybe this weekend if the weather holds in this pattern.

John,
I have used the "Royal Blue" Lustercoat on my old Sig Skyray 35, and except for some rash coming from engine quits near the climbing part of horizontal 8, the colors looks just fine. I've flown this plane on and off for at least 4-5 years--so it has had a lot of exposure to the sun. Also the Lustercoat yellow seems to survive too. By the way, I have had pretty good luck with the bright red (Missile Red??). This by the way has no overcoat, except perhaps for some old castor. It seems to be pretty impervious to Sig 15% raw fuel too.
Alan
The white, I've used a lot and no problemsever. The metallic Purple is dark already so I might be OK there too. The yellow is like the red, not very much used. the other color isblack and it's already dark, soooooooo.
Thanks for the mood lifter today Alan

Rick
Give me a call or get to me online. I have lost track of your telephone number. Just wanted to chat with you again.
Allen
I picked up a copy of Aviation Modeller International the other day because I was at the local hobby shop and saw your artical on the Opus in the June 2002 issue. I am working on my Legacy kit and have read several of your construction articals Piretta, Buccaneer, Septor, Savoy and Opus. I was wondering if the Legacy is your most recent design or did it come before some of the others.
Thanks Rick

Hi Rick, I'm going to be presumptious here and answer for Allen. If he wants to add more, I'm sure he will. He doesn't post too much, but I believe he does lurk a lot on a few of the forus.
The designs you referred to all pre-date the Legacy. Allen was flying the Opus in competition before the design work on it started. The Legacy does share the general shape of the rudder with the Opus though, and has that general look of a Brickhaus design.
The Legacy came as an answer to providing a replacement for the dis-continued Buccaneer kits produced by Custom Models, when they went into RC kit production only. Custom models wanted to keep the rights to kit the plane in the future, so a new plane, based on the Buccaneer 740 was designed.
The Legacy is, in my opinion, an improved design over it's parent. The moments are slightly different, esp. the tail moment. Stab and elevator areas are different. It is designed to accept either traditional, or piped engines. Control geometry is different, and gear geometry is optimised for hard surface.
It was a fun project. Allen and I are old and good friends, so he asked me to draw the plans up for him. He knew that I had been drawing up some of the plans for Brodak, and since Brodak would be kitting the design, it was a natural. Allen and I spent many hours on the phone getting the design together and on the drawing. On my part, it helped that I have a Buccaneer 740 kit, so I could see where Allen wanted to start from. He sent me tracings of the rudder shape from the Opus which was the shape he wanted on this design.
As the design came together, it was plain to see that this was going to be a good one. All in all, a pleasant project, and now that I've built one and flown it, meets or exceeds all the expectations we, or at least I, had during the project.
Go ahead Allen, Sorry to have jumped in here, but I couldn't help myself.

Edit, 1/27/03. After speaking to Alllen on the phone the other day, he confirms that the Legacy is indeed his latest design. He also stated that due to a series of crashes, he lost his three best planes and will be refurbishing one of his older planes for next season. Sorry to hear this Allen, I hope the refurbishing effort is successful for you. Don't you just hate it when something like this happens?

Hi Allen, I look forward to the chat. I'll call you this evening. Oh yeah, I have a new phone number, that's why the old one didn't work.
