Looking for Miscellaneous Millenium Wing Tips

I have acquired the necessary hardware and balsa for giving Tom Morris' Millenium Wing construction idea a try. As a result of their experience building one of these things, does anyone have any suggestions to add to those in the STUNT NEWS articles? If you built one, what did you cover it with, and how did you like the result? These wing tips....they WOULDN'T be shoes!

The one I liked best in SN was laminating the TE with the hinge slots already in. The "spline" was used as tooling reference also so that specially (and accurately) cut jig blocks were not needed. Nice strips of 1x2 lumber would work fine, get rid of the angle irons and all that. I found my local lumber store had 1x2's that were made up from 6"/12" sections finger jointed together. Straight, strong, cheap, and nicely finished. Don't labor under the notion that steel or aluminum "angle irons" are straight or 90 degrees. Seldom, in fact. Steve
