Nats in Muncie

My brother and I are going to the contest in Muncie in July. Do you have to be an AMA member to get in? Is there an admission fee? Any advice for first time visitors?

Depends on what event you are interested in. Monday is a good day to visit, as you can see the OTS and Classic contests, and a whole lot of regular PA practice. Its also usually a good time to ask questions, as there's a lot of waiting between parctice flights. Friday usually has the best flying, overall, but take care talking to the participants as the pressure is really on. Saturday is really a showcase for the top 5. If nothing else, just watch the participants for signs of nerves!

Other items - Lee's Inn or the Signature Inn are both good places to stay, if you're staying overnight. Plenty of chain restaurants along McGalliard between the motel and the site. Bring a lawn chair, and plenty of Gatorade.

There is no admission fee to watch and spectate; however, if you intend to enter, pit or take an active part in any of the events, you must join the AMA (for insurance purposes).

I would also suggest you visit the other control line events, speed, racing, combat and carrier. Also unoficial events such as beginner, intermediate stunt are on Sunday 7/8 along with Fox racing. Many classes are ongoing during the week. You can pickup a schedule at the registration house. There are some R/C events going on but you cant get up close and personal like the control line events. Dont forget the museum, its great!
