It is fairly well known that John Brodak, (and Even the "Dirt" himself as far back as an article way back in the 1970's) amongst many other well recognized names have been working to have C/L PA promoted as a SPORT.
This recognized status, as the proponents believe will give us better perception among the masses so as to compete for local land grants for flying fields, more participation and other advancements of CLPA. I don't see how we can promote the hard core BOM and appearance aspect of this event and still promote it as what is commonly defined as a sport***. How can some of us be on both sides of this fence at the same time? They would seem to be at cross purposes.
It gets me wondering why there is not less BOM and Appearance Point debates, and more debate as to weather on not to promote CLPA as a Hobby or a Sport? Isn't this closer to the real core issue?
This is not meant to start another flame war, but honest discussion, so lets keep it civil.
