Len: These things work pretty well. They really are quiet, that's for sure. Odd looker, too.
What kind of fasteners are those? 3-48, or metric? I just grabbed a wrench that fit, and tightened them on.

Those are not "Tea Kettle" mufflers, Currell. The proper name is "Dustbin". (Don't look at me. I didn't name them.) I would guess the fasteners are metric as I got them out of England, and got, as far as I know, the last of the breed. Some metric are very close to English, however, (Why do we call them "English"? The Brits are now using metric??). Anyway, if you looked inside, the stinger on these mufflers is not a straight through shot. It is capped inside and has a diverter, so it should, as you have noticed, be quite effective for quieting, but, also, not too restrictive. It is a good, simple, design (although odd looking) and I got them at a good price which I am passing on.

Order later and the tap will come with it anyway.) These work best on profiles. Not so good on upright/inverted with a cowl. On a profile the exhaust stinger aims straight down.

Meanwhile, the American term for dustbin is trash can, or garbage can. Tea Kettle is tea kettle on either side of the Big Pond.
