I am seriously considering running for PAMPA prez. Can anyone tell me when the ballots go out or how the process works?

Bradley. If you want to run for office, I suggest you get some "grass roots" support. If enough people think you are the man for the office, then you will have no trouble.

I suggest you post your qualifications on the internet as a starter. If you have support, then you might think of running.

You need to get somone to nominate you at the PAMPA business meeting. Then, depending on how many people are nominated, it gets winnowed down to 2 via votes at the meeting. These two get their names on the ballot, then voting proceeds apace.

Depends on who else goes for it. If Frank is willing to take another turn in the barrel, then I'm willing to let him. There are many good potential candidates - just have to wait and see.

Both of you go for it, even if Frank does go for another term. I think that a shot of youthful exeuberance(sp) would be just the shot in the arm that PAMPA needs. Of course, someome will probably think that's the most idiotic idea that anyone ever had, but hey, I don't care about that - Forrest and I get along just fine.

If PAMPA members can vote and you let me know why you want to run, I might even join PAMPA...

I was really hoping Brett (or anyone really) would answer Ion's question.

All this time I thought you were a Sadist, but now I know you are a masochist. Why would anyone want the pain? Bradley, you are too young to go this way. Enjoy flying for 10 more years then do something crazy.

I believe that there will be several folks asking that their names be submitted... a couple of Jersey Boys (also known as "the East Coast Toy Airplane Kabal") a couple from the Keystone State, one from Florida and a New Yorker.

I'ld be mighty happy to see a field, but will have nothing to do with raising money to insure that the selected and proper candidate gets seated.

I don't know we would be all that opposite. You just haven't fully experienced the real intransigents yet.

It's really not that great, or powerful, a job. The president only gets one vote on the EC, just like everybody else. It's not like you can dictate to people like Saddam. And it's a duty of the job to listen to everybodies gripes, whether they make sense or not.

The real work is the secretary/treasurer and the newsletter production. We have two of the best, but I would want to make waht Shareen and Tom's plans are before jumping in.

I can tell it's springtime, the robins have returned, the flowers are in full bloom, and Peabody is what might be charitably referred to as "lobbying" (in time for the July EC meeting). Or more accurately, "shooting oneself in the foot" again.

Anyone considering running for PAMPA office might consider how tiresome it can sometimes be.

Hire James Carville and Dick Morris.

In this country, the USA, we have guaranteed rights and a government system that allows us to exercise those rights. Our rights and freedom are paid for in blood and sacrifice, past, present, and future. We vote freely and live and abide by our laws. Here in Texas, one of those laws is a Concealed Handgun License that allows one to carry, having successfully passed a FBI background check, a seminar on Texas Law and a Non-violent Conflict resolution course and finally a hands-on Firearm profiency qualifying practical exam. Renewal is a repeat of all the above every 4 years. This is the Law of the land, our land. I don't know you from Adam, and have been successful in the past on ignoring your non-control line inputs- but I feel much better about anyones' character if he/she is qualified legal to carry a handgun by the laws of our country- however, that premise is not considered when voting for a PAMPA president...

Well, everyone needs a dream.

More news from the home front.... a prominent local flyer...frequent front row and supurb builder...terrific flyer... well liked by all.... and a guy with positive attitude towards our event has decided to "put his hat in the ring"!

This is terrific news for all that are tired of seeing our organization decline in numbers while the sport of controline flying grows substantially each year!

Watch for a formal announcement soon!

Thank you De, Marvin and Brad....now go stir the pot! Did my few years on the EC, liked it...but life took at turn for the absurd and I had relenquish my lofty post. In truth I would recommend that anyone run for their District position. Its an eye opener and you do find out just what a wonderful organization PAMPA and the people in it are. But, its time for me to get back to my original task.....putting my name on that CUP and being a polite protagonist!
