There's something really disturbing about that picture. Looks like a B-17 in the final stages of a wheels-up landing, heading off the strip to boot...

At the "Hyperscale" model site forum ( www.hyperscale.com , ..great ref. material for scale subject matter btw), the fella's relate that the pictured B-17 "beating up" the runway is a still shot taken from the movie "The War Lover" with Steve McQueen. They also note that this buzz job was performed with only the pilot on board. I can not confirm this intel myself having not seen the whole movie. A detail to note is the rather modern (compared to the B-17) transport sitting in the back ground scene. Camera angle, timing, placement etc, also seems to indicate a "staged" shot, at least to me. Looks like what I'd imagine Paul Walkers "Nine-0-Nine" would look like just after a 5ft pull out from the wing-over.

What was bothering me about it was that the wing dihedral and thickness and gear up condition (I didn't think Paul's B17 had
a retractable gear) didn't look like the CL model. What tricked me

Gee.. You man that's NOT Paul Walker's model? I could've sworn I could see the lines. The title didn't help much, either.. ^_^
Were that PW's B-17 909, the wheels fell off, and the wings are not level...and besides, it is flying too low per the AMA Pattern specs, and would have points deducted. I assure you that PW would not do that. It does appear to be the correct model of B-17, however, judging by the chin turret. I'm not an expert on B-17's (or anything else), but Pa did fly them during War2, and piloted one around Wright Field with Orville W. in the co-pilot's seat.

StevePS: I wonder if Bruce Hunt might have some footage of the 909 flying in its maiden contest at Roseburg, Oregon, and be induced to put it onto a video as an extra bonus?
