Topeka Contest

Just a public thank you to all who worked hard at the Topeka contest. Especially to Jim Lee, George Lieb, Paul Rundel, and others who supported the contest in many ways. It was interesting to have the same set of judges for Intermediate, Advanced, and Expert. We were able to see how our scores stacked up to all the other flyers. Nice job Jim and crew.

Sorry I missed it as this is one of my favorite contests each year despite the motel problems in Topeka and the bankrupting toll roads.

Is someone hopefully going to post some results?

pete, todd lee, bob henningson in combat. aud,adler and I forget who was in balloon bust. Thems the events you were REALLY interested in isn't Jim?

We did miss ya, combat was just a hoot with a 3 time flyoff to see whether Pete lee was going to win, or sleep under the world class mustang AND 75mph combat plane that beat him up so bad.

Actually, after 3 flyoffs, they flipped a coin because all the good food was halfway gone. You really missed some fun. I didn't get to play Sunday, instead I just made a quick pass through. I spent the majority of the time with the inlaws who also live in Topeka. Oh well, there's always next year. Your ashpalt stunt judges by the way were Jim Lee, Todd Lee and Ginger Taylor. Old time and Beginer was Dale Hrenchir and Pete Lee.

Here they are as far as stunt.

Made it to Topeka for the first time last weekend. They put on a geat contest and had one heck of a load of goodies for the raffle both days. Some of the early combat heats were super duper slow. I think they were making about 5 1/2 seconds per lap. My reflexes might even work at those speeds. Still interesting to watch and easy to follow the action.
I haven't watched a lot of racing so it was neat to watch three of those little 1/2A sized planes with 40's on them zipping around the circle at the same time. It looked like you would get quite a workout piloting one of those things.
The only thing I found a little bothersome was the long grass. A few inches shorter would have been much better. Still a great contest overall. Hope to see some of the same people at our contest the last weekend in Sept. Unlike Topeka, our contest is strictly BYOT. (Bring your own trees)
