Auto Clear Paint

I painted my new PA stunt plane with Brodak dope. I want to clear it with Auto 2 part clear paint. How long should I wait for the Brodak dope to gas off? Dose 2 coats sound right? Any problems painting the plastic canopy with Auto clear?

I've only done this once. I've been using pretty much all auto paint for the last couple of planes.

You probably don't have to wait much at all. Dope will gas off for a very long time. The bulk of it within a few days, but leave an all dope finished plane in a car in the sun for an hour then smell inside. Even months and months after the the dope was sprayed, it's still gassing off.

I'd wait a couple of days to a week anyway. You really only need one coat of catalyzed polyurethane auto paint clear, if you do it right. One, semi-wet coat will do it. and once catalyzed, it's pretty inert. If you decide to rub it out, wait a couple of days and sand to a matte finish, theen rub it up with hand glaze. Gives a very nice finish. Be very, very careful with the stuff. Use a good resperator and shoot outside if you can or with a very good exhaust fan. Until it's catalyzed, it can be dangerous stuff.

Discalimer: I don't recommend using catalyzed auto paint products unless you're familiar with the safety precautions.
