Huntersville Contest

I plan on going but don't have any info other than the dates.
I need directions from I-77 out of Charlotte to the field.

from charlotte......... 77N ...... exit 23 ...... right off ramp......right at second light ......bout one mile +/- left at sign to waymer field .....also sign for contest...crosses rr tracks........end of road on left ...see ya

Those directions are pretty spot on.. 1st traffic light is big four way intersection, holiday inn and assorted fast food joints on right. Second light is small town type four way intersection. (taht is where you turn right) Left turn toward Waymer field is over some railroad tracks, watch to avoid being squashed by train. The road to the site is very twisty, then opens up to a landfill on the right. The field is on the left on the site of the old landfill. Its a very easy place to find and a great site to fly on.

31 May and 1 June, with practice available on the 30th. BEWARE OF THE POLICE AT THE RAILROAD CROSSING/INTERSECTION. Last year they were really up to snuff with four patrol cars and got lots of locals.
Also there are two porta potties at the site, but bring water/drinks. There is usually a guy and his son there selling hot dogs, hambergers and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. Once you see this site and you don't have one, you'll just get jealous and move there. The RC boys are not allowed on the site to fly RC for the three days of the contest, so the entire runway is more or less open for practice flights. Two paved circles and one grass and the big area at one end of the RC field. The end you come in on is used for combat (grassy area). Nice site.

We are very proud of our control line and radio control flying site , owned and maintained by Charlotte Parks and Recreation Dept.. Great people to work with. We are now in the works of having another paved circle available for contest dates. It will probably be a multi use circle , but we will have priority on contest dates.. In the near future hopefully.

The person responsable for the world famous BBQ , Hotdogs, drinks , chips , etc ,, is our clubs greatest chef, otherwise known as Jim Stewart , (Kevins Dad) and Seaun Stewart (Kevins Brother).. All of this and Lynn too makes for a great family to have around ...

See everyone on Sat morning ,, racing starts at 8:00 Sharp..
and the other events will follow , Sat will be a full day, Sunday will be busy too , but the flyers process quickly and we will run a circle for each class ,,,

There right about liking the area. I liked it so much that I now live 10 miles from field.
