I just received a copy of Leonard's Venturi Size Chart: Thanks! I notice that the choke area per cubic inch for diesel engines is on the order of 1/2 that for glow engines. This seems to collaborate what I have read else where that diesels need less venturi area than a glow engine of the same displacement. My question is: is this true for 4 stroke engines also? Would the venturi choke area be about 1/2 that of an equivalent displacement 2 stroke engine?

It is going to be different, but I have never worked with 4-strokes so have never found a correlation. It might be best, for now, to just ask what people are using on a certain engine. You will also need to know, however, what fuel they are using and what prop they are using, as that, also, makes a difference.

Leonard, why dontcha just post a button to your chart on your website, or this website, for that matter. And post a button to access your SSW Catalog. They're your websites, but I don't think anybody would complain about being too commercial. Steve

I am constantly updating the chart as I add new engines or new computations. But I could post it to the site and update the site periodically. I have a little different interface that will be on the site when we switch to the new software. It does have a link to the website and also a link for help and comments/suggestions. There is also a subtle hint for people to read the faq. I think this is too small print, or something and people don't always see that it is there. I have edited it with the common asked questions to help people out. But if there are questions I need to add, let me know.
