Sources for inexpensive Fox 35

I looked around for the best deals on Fox 35 engine and would like to share what I've found:

The least expensive is direct from Fox Manufacturing: $49.50 + $5 shipping
The next best source is Lone Star Balsa: $53.95 + $7.50 shipping
Lone Star Balsa sells the engine without the muffler. Muffler is nother $6.

The $49.50 Fox .35 seems to be very elusive on the Fox web site. I could only find $98 ones. Equally couldn't find a muffler less Fox .35 ....plenty of $15 dollar mufflers and $59.95 muffled engines on the Lone Star site....

Can you be more precise about the exact page URLs?

Fox is offering a 50% off deal for a trade-in. Apparently any engine in any condition meets the requirement.

Couldn't find the special offer page but there again the navigation system of the Fox site leaves a lot to be desired

The trade-in offer is NOT on the website. I had to call their 800 number and talk to a person. Very friendly a nice folks out there!

Not only is the price right, but if you order direct from Fox, they give you one of the better engines that come from their "engine room". (they run every Fox 35..the good ones are saved for people who order direct)..

It's not of their web site. Call them or just mail the engine and check for 54.50 and a small note asking for a 35.

No problem!
1) go to http://lonestar-models.com/
2) Just below "Great Deals..." letters click on 'Specials' button
3) Click on 'Specials' button when it comes up second time
4) Select 'Special Deals' under Product Sections
5) click on 'Select' to the right of the list.
6) Scroll down to 'Control Line Engines' section. Fox 35 7 lines down after that.

You can also call them. Just make sure to mention the non-muffler one. Also very friendly.

Remember to add another $20 or so for the fuel you'll need to break it in. THE way to buy a Fox Stunt is to find a good used one - at least it'll be already half broken in. And there are thousands of them out there.

That's the way to do it alright. I have a small box full of 'em. I buy every used one I can find for $25 or less (sometimes a lot less), usually from older RC flyers that "have one in a drawer, (box, under the bench...) someplace". Only got one so far that was a dud. Ask around at any RC field about old Fox .35's. I even got a dandy Torp .32 for $10 once from a local RC guy. I have it on a Boxcar Chief. Amazingly powerful engine.

I just had a very good 40th anniversary with fox needle valve go for $26 on ebay and sold another locally to a new flier, absolutely cherry, with muffler lugs but no needle valve for $25.
Both were in their prime, one flippers hot or cold, and great values at these prices.
Sorry,I only have one left and I'm keeping it for reasons unknown.

You're most probably right. I have reservations about used ones though, especially 40th anniversary ones. One small tap on the mufler in a crash and the lugs are gone. New 50th anniversary one has very strong muffler lugs.

This is true.
I also sold a NIB 50th anniversay here locally a few months ago and have watched it's progress.
Three runs on the ground on an airplane, went up first time on suction tank, with a normal setting, did OK surprisingly enough, and has continued to run well since and would now consider it pretty much broken in with maybe 15 flights on it. I have never seen it do anything weird, go lean, etc. and seems to be the most consistent running of this guys Fox 35's. All this happened on 5/29 all castor fuel fortunately.
Maybe the later engines do require less break in.
