Greetings,

The Millington Barnstormers of Millington, Tn are planning on hosting a C/L Fun-Fly later this Summer or very early Fall. We are located about 13 miles north of Memphis.

The event would be mostly Fun-Fly; however, we are now wondering if there would be any interest in an "ARF Nobler" contest. Entry will be judged for appearance points and pattern completion. An early Fall event should just give everyone enough time to get their "ARF Noblers" decorated and ready. Awards for "Best Looking ARF Nobler" and "Highest Pattern Points" could be awarded. We could also have some sort of event for the "ARF Flite Streaks".

Of course this event would not be anything "Official", but, it would be a hoot to get a bunch of "ARF Noblers" together and just have some plain ole time Control Line fun.

Let me know if you would be intersted. [email protected]

I am sure a few of us from Bama could make it- don't know how many, but I do know several of us have the Nobler on order. There are also the guys in north Ala. that would come. Ed Keller

Where in Bama? My son lives outside Montgomery, and the only hobby shop I could find in town didn't know if or where U/C folks flew. They didn't have much in the way of U/C stuff either.

Louis, you can count on me being there. Whether or not I will have anything to fly, I don't know......

BTW, the circle looked pretty good this weekend!

You are going to buy one of those 3 Noblers that I have on back order. So, you will have something to fly. Provided it survives the initial flights you put on it. You also have that dinky little Cuadron.

Date has been set for the Millington Barnstormers Control Line Fun-Fly. Get your planes ready and come join us on the 27th of September 2003.

Fun-Fly will be the order of the day on two circles that are well suited for 70' lines. If we get a big enough response, we will even cut a third circle. Bring your Flite Streak and Nobler ARFs. There will be a "Best Looking" Nobler ARF competition.

No landing fees; however, there will be a registration and safety check. AMA membership required.

Ok, everyone should be getting their Noblers in the mail soon. Get them built and ready for the Millington Barnstormers Fun-Fly. Award for Best Looking Nobler ARF will be awarded.

That will leave all the Oklahoma fliers out. This is also the weekend we (Tulsa) are having our contest.

Louis;

Knowing full well that everyone has a bright idea - and you'll get all the bright idea cook-offs that you could ever want, might I make a suggestion? I don't know what the CL density is around your area, but if you want to have a good turnout, why not open it up a little?

Rather than limit the event to ARF Noblers, why not have a "George M. Aldrich" event? Allow Streaks, Noblers, Peacemakers, AG-1s, Magnums, etc. No BOM stipulation, just fun. ARF Streaks and Noblers cordially invited...

Just a thought.

Why of course it is an open Fun-Fly, surely did not mean to imply that it was not. Bring whatever you have and fly it to your hearts content. There will be a "Best Looking" ARF Nobler Award.

Yes, it is quite open. With no formal contests going on, everyone can fly and have fun. We will have two circles ready and if there is enough interest we will cut a third. If anyone wants to bring combat and make a few challenges, so be it. Balloon bust, by all means, come on out and get it started. This will be a chance for sport fliers, competition fliers, and new fliers to get together and just have fun.

The main goal is to get any and all C/L enthusiasts who can make it, together for a day of old fashioned Roundy-Roundy fun.

There will be a registration but no landing fees. AMA membership is required as well as a safty check of equipment. We are close to residents, so mufflers will also be required. Other than that, the only rule is to have lots fun.

Also, bring all your odds and ends because there will also be a swap meet. Good chance to unload or obtain some good C/L stuff. I have several vintage kits that I intend to try and get rid of myself.
