I just had the chance to read through the construction article on your F86D in the August MA.

Nicely done, sir. Nicely done.

Mine hasn't arrived yet. For some reason, it gets mailed from Denmark, and I haven't figured out why, yet.

I look forward to seeing the article. It's a wonderful airplane.

A truly remarkable article by one of the hobby's real gentlemen. Several excellent construction tips in there for the newer folks.

I new the F86 article was coming in this issue, but haven't seen it yet.

Everything that Don does is perfect to say the least. Also Don & Flora are among the best.

Here are pictures of the F86 that I took at the Dallas contest last week. This is the 2nd full bodied F86 and has just been refinished!Just drool!!

I have flown Don's F-86, and it is a very nice flier. It turns equally inside and out and is very stable. I believe it had a 40 FP in it when I flew it, and now has an LA 46. I told Don I'd really like to fly it again with the more powerful motor in it.

It also looks VERY cool at the end of the lines.

Great job on the article. It's good to see such a well done CL piece done in M.A. This has been one of my favorite planes ever since the Tulsa contest last year.

It would look really great if the gear came up. It's a toss up which is prettier, the NA P51 or the NA F86. They sure did make good looking planes and this model is so nice. Love that silver.

Bad news.. Don lost power overhead and couldn't recover. The F86 went straight in, tore the nose off and even snapped off the shaft of the LA.46.. Left quite a debrey field.

Don, condolences on the loss of the F86. A lot of people have built F86 and other attempts at "scale" stunters, and with few exceptions they all look like a conventional stunt model tarted up with a few features paying lip service to the original aircraft.
I have to say the more I saw of your model (photos) the more I could see you succeeded more than most people. It really did seem to capture the "atmosphere", so much so that learning it is perhaps no more, I have printed off all the photos in this corres!
I see reference to an MA article. does this mean it's your design or is it from somewhere else?
This loss of power and model overhead (usually r/wing-over, hour glass, or o/head 8) has been a feature of an above average number of models over here (England) this season, sometimes due to engine, sometimes due to the bad weather we have had so far.
Good luck with your next project, I think you could do a pretty good Sea Vixen if you can find a decent colour scheme. Did we ever sell you any? Ian R. .......

Yes, the whole thing was my own. I like to build models that look like the real thing yet quite capable of good stunt performance. I suspect that there will be another F-86D in the future that will be even better than this one. A lot of work but rewarding when finished.

Just wanted to add that Don is really a class act. I would have been crying, but Don took it all as just another part of flying.

He is one of the best builders in the country.. for sure.

The F86 was, and is, an accomplishment in taking a non-standard platform and making it work. Our hat's are all off to Don.

Be assured that his future efforts will also have us in awe!

A pretty airplane, a shame to lose it!

On the Sea Vixen; only the RN ever used it. One of the best color schemes I have seen for one is a drone aircraft that was in an overall yellow and red scheme with the British roundels- quite eye catching.
