Needless to say all of our prayers go out to him for a successful, and complete recovery.

Being a Heart patient myself, I was lucky and got away with a ballon angioplasty. My Cardiologist gave me quite good instructions to follow for cardiac health. You don't have to be a heart patient to do these things either, and in fact may be quite benificial in keeping you from being one.

1. Get a regular check up by a physican, including checking blood presure, blood tests for colestorol, tri-glycerides and blood sugars. A lot of diabetics are found this way that didn't even know they were.

2. Exercise regularly, at least three times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes, especially aerobic exercises. Running to the handle after starting your engine is not aerobic unfortunately.

3. Restrict you intake of both salt and fatty foods. Read the labels of foods you buy and determine the amount of fat grams per serving. If its over 7 consider it a code red item, something you would only eat very occasionally. ("Sob, goodby to daily Big Macs"). Salt should be limited to approximately 4 grams a day.

4. If your are overweight by more than 20 percent of ideal, by all means try to reduce to no more than 10 percent over ideal, and even less is better.

5. Take one asparin every day. Coated 81 MG is O.K. but supplement it with a full dose asparin at least every two weeks or so. This helps blood flow in ateries that may be constricted. It also acts as a mild blood thinning agent.

I am no physican, some of you out there may be. If I have accidentally eliminated anything please feel free to add it!

There are far too many of us aging, and following good cardiac helth practices should help ensure we are around to enjoy our hobby a little longer.

Update on Leonard#10 source
I spoke with Leonard's daughter this afternoon. He's in Intermediate Care, no longer Intensive.

It seems that he was not feeling good at midnight last Friday, in Muncie, so evidently that's when the attack started. I guess he didn't feel bad enough to want to get checked out until back home in Vincennes. She also said that he really never felt enough pain to scare him as much as it should have. He was hurting and knew he was sick, but he thought it was something else.

Getting home and to the Vincennes hospital on Saturday, it was decided he needed five bypasses, and the surgery was done that night. There have been a couple complications keeping him from going home, but nothing life threatening so far. Ann Marie thinks he may come home tomorrow (Friday).

Leonard is an absolute library of modeling knowledge, and besides that, he's a very good man.

Thanks for the update Denny. Many of us are a little reluctant to call , in fear of bothering them in these times. We are all praying for his speedy recovery.

Yes, Dad did suffer a heart attack. It probably started Thurs morning but thought it was his surgar levels going bonkers. Twenty-Twenty hind sight. We got back home and checked his levels (didn't have the meter with us) and discovered they were in normal parameters. The "pain" he was feeling was more of a discomfort and not actual pain. He did have a 5 way heart bypass surgery Sat night. He is doing fine. He is having some minor complications with the heart rythm at the moment but the doctors are hoping to have that under control by Sat and then he can go home (two blocks away from the hospital). He is in good spirits. He keeps telling these stupid jokes with all the doctors and nurses.

All of us here thank you for your kind words. We print them out and give them to him when we can.

Matt,

Thanks for taking the time during what must be a stressful, busy time for you and your family to let us know what is going on with your Dad. Please tell him that all the stunt flyers here in Halibut Guts, Alaska are praying for his quick recovery.

Best regards.
