Magnum 52 4 Stroke?

Was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with the Magnum 4 stroke. Am concidering purchasing one in the near future. How dose it compare wit an OS 46 LA or simlilar 2 stroke engine?

Magnum's .61 4 stroke is made on the same case, so is as light or lighter than the .52, and would be the one I'd look at. I saw the .61 on sale for $150, but didn't bite. The problem is that nobody has a venturi kit for them, tho it appears that if you are willing to ruin a throttle, it could be done fairly easily. I would also consider buying a set of rings for it and put new rings with the end gaps set properly, right from the start. No gap is very bad, and not unusual. The chances of removing rings and being able to re-use them is virtually zero, so it's not worth trying. But to tell the truth, while I like Magnum 2 strokes, I don't think a 4 stroke is a place to try to save $50, so just buy a Saito and know what you're getting and what to do with it. JMHO. Steve

If the Mag is one that is going to be your choice it will respond very well to Nitro. I ran 30% in mine and it really made it run well. Like Steve said though the Saito is a much better engine.

Thanks, both your comments help shed some light on which 4 stroke engine to get. I was advised by an aquaintence who flies R/C and C/L, that he liked the Magnum, but has only used his 4 strokes (One-OS and One- Saito) on the R/C planes. He did advise the Saito was a much better engine, but finances were a high consideration on my part. Guess I should save a few more bucks and go for the Saito, especially since my friend has not had to modify the Magnum venturi or the ones on other two 4 strokes. Plus getting a better engine usually results in a few less problems down the line. Just thought I'd run the question by some real C/L'ers.
How about sizes of 4 strokes , say to take the place of an OS46LA?
