CL in San Diego. Yeah!

Having a great time with Dave and Bob who contacted me promptly when I put out my plea for some CL religion while visiting Southern California. Thanks to all, including SSCL. The San Diego flyers are serious about stunt, breakfast and having a good time. The weather perfect. Even the loan of an heirloom Sky Ray with a honking Enya 35 square venture. Wonderful time doing lazy eights in the noonday sun. The forum and the sport make for fun across the USA.

Dave was the first person I EVER saw fly the PAMPA stunt pattern. I think Bob was there that day also. I lived in San Diego and heard a few guys flew c/l out there, stopped by on a Saturday and the rest is history. Great group, pretty good place to fly (except all the rocks)! Come to think of it, Dave and Bob were the first to ever see me fly the pattern.

I can't believe there aren't more flyers in the area considering the population, the location and how friendly the few that fly there are. I tried r/c in several places in the area and didn't have NEAR the same reception, and the few hobby shops in the area have NO INTEREST in helping the c/l guys. There was one east a half hour or so, but it's now gone.

I'm sure Dave will read this so will say hi! Finally found the article in flying models that showed a pic of Scott, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Went to Brodaks and Scott is finally doing all the maneuvers in the beginner's pattern so should be competitive very soon, and moving to intermediate shortly thereafter.
I even did pretty good at Brodaks so I'm still getting better, that chat at Tucson this year did a world of good. Say hi to Bob for me.
Havn't heard from Muck at all since Tucson, so no new news there.

Hi Tools. When I was in San Diego, combat was all the rage and free flight. The only decent hobby shop was "Hill Crest Hobbies" but the retired chief retired again and moved to Kentucky. When I was last there, I went up to Hill Crest and the hobby shop was a Poodle joint for cutting Poodle hair. Blah. Ptewhey. Mission Bay is where we flew CL, Otay Mesa for Free Flight and at the stadium for rc. Ah, dems was da days.
