I've been collecting Flying Models Magazines for some time now. It's interesting to see how airplanes, engine set-ups and various techniques have evolved. There is still allot of good stuff in those old magazines. Not to metion the pile of old engines, Broken Hot Rocks handles, Rusted lines that I'll never use, Props with BIG nicks, wheels that have seen better days. It's like there is some kind of force that will not allow anything model related to hit the trash can.

As you can guess, she called me that too.
I know exactly what you mean, we just moved to a smaller house but I still couldn't bring myself to get rid of things(some of which I've had for fifty yrs.). ##### near gave myself another hernia trying to move my boxes of old magazines. My hobby room is quite a bit smaller than I had in my last house. Kind of like trying to stuff 15 pounds of spagetti into a 5 pound bag!

Ive got the disease here too! Iam not looking for a cure, just more room to store the stuff! My wife is good about it at least. She doesnt mind if I spend all night in the basement. I told her it beats me being in a bar somewhere getting into all kinds of trouble.
Just Flying Models magazines?? I'm also collecting MAN, FM, AAM, AM, Air Trails, etc. My purpose is to get one each of every model mag printed in the USA that had a stunt plane featured with plans. I'm getting there. When I think about the FireBall I threw away as a 15 year old, I cringe. Ok, so it was oil soaked and the controls were in "backwards" and it was heavy. So again, why did I throw it away. Glue would not stick to it and my Barnstormer was "neater".
I also collect plans of free flight, combat and stunt planes. Usually a set of plans will have two of the above on the same sheet, especially MAN from the 50's and 60's. As to MAN, I stop at 1979. After that who cares.
How many of you nout there still have an AJ Hornet, Interceptor, 74 Fighter or Firebaby?
"collectumitis" is cureable, unfortunately as soon as a person aflicted with the desease (we in the profession do not like the term "addiction") sees the literature they immediately begin to collect it. Thus if they were to be cured they would no longer have anything to collect, therefore the afflicted will not allow themselves to be cured. So once infected with the desease of collectumitis one is stuck with a catch-22. Which of course is a book many others collect. Actually..thats a pretty good book. Does anyone out there know where I can get one to go with my collection of other military inspired farces? Not that I collect them, its just that I have not gotten around to diseminating them to other places. I have promised the wife that I would, and I will....as soon as I get just one more!

for Mr. Mulligan. Heck yeah, to build. Magazines? LOTS. My
favorites are American Aircraft Modeler, but my Model Builders would have to be pried from my cold dead hands.
We have a 1/4 acre here in Central CA., but it is hardly enough for
proposed projects in the full-scale, (cars) but we are blessed with a useable 20-acre lot just behind our property. The neighbors are amused when we fly Controline, as I am older (60) and my wife, considerably younger, builds and flies also. They just observe and wonder: "What's he up to now?"
My home Hobby Shop is crowded into a 10 X 25 ft. room, adjoining my garage and kitchen. I am also a 'Plans Freak', hyper-interested in old & interesting planes, with many started, so there's 'no backing out'...
Briliant wife is helping re-organize hobby shop, as we just vacated prodigal daughter's room. A Larry Richards' Redskin was jigged up in there, to be photo-storied for all to see. In 'Limbo' now, it will be in pix before August, posted on this site. Tempted to resume construction, the only place left is the kitchen table! (wife's wisdom precludes otherwise hasty building anxieties.)
We are 'quick-building' a Sig Shoestring on a $50 portable folding-leg table in the living room to train for Speed flights...
Stunters are space-compromised, carefully 'stacked' on my frame jig, as my Roadster has all the welding completed; It is sitting next to the frame jig in the garage, wife's BMW is outside in the driveway.
C/L Dennyplane is awaiting paint, can't wait to fly a Scale (?) high-wing that never was a real plane.
Haven't decided what to throw away...I may need this stuff!
