Al,
I do care what happens...I was just kidding you with my comment about your passion on this subject. Whether people are for or against your point of view your comments have caused this discussion to be far more in depth than it could ever have otherwise been. This discussion has brought more information on this subject to the surface than any of us could have imagined.
I am not in favor of changing the landing requirement to the FAI style...I think that the AMA style landing represents a more realistic, common-sense approach to the maneuver. However, I admit that my viewpoint represents a bias acquired from 32 years and several thousand hours of full-scale flying.
As far as the changing the judging section to the FAI wording I have no problem with this as it really only represents a more detailed description of what we already have in the AMA rulebook. The fact that FAI mentions the 45 degree requirement 41 times won't change the fact we already fly as close to 45 degrees as we can and will continue to do so in the future.
Please don't stop stirring the pot, Al...you are doing it from a position of considerable knowledge and experience.
