Slow Rat

What is the HOT set up these days for a slow rat engine and plane. Did this event go the way of slow combat and you have to take out a second mortgage to be competitive?

Found a web site with a little info. The one thing that jumped out was the guy was using a Nelson.. Ben, I bet you will like that I will take a look at the rules when I get a chance, maybe I can figure out what has changed in 30 years..

Bob, did you know Mike Greb back in your Slow Rat contest days? He is still involved in racing, and I think Slow Rat is still on his list of active areas. He's still in the Dallas area, and I'm sure someone here can come up with an eMail address. He has dropped into SSW a few times the past couple of months. Or if not, I have Bill Lee's eMail & Web Site address. He surely can give you a summary of what the event is like lately (I think it's mostly just flown at the Nats).

"Texas Quickie Rat" is flown at quite a few local contests, using the mid-1960's era's type of Rat Racers and technology. Limitations on engines allowed keeps it at both reasonable speeds and reasonable cost.
