Large Decals

Hi all.

I see Frank McMillian and Billy Werwage and lots of others using larger decals like the Aeroshell, Texaco T, and the Rolls Royce etc on their planes, does anyone know where they get these?
I have looked at model car decals and they look to small, I see some bigger RC planes with the same type decals perhaps they use those?

I would venture to say they print them themselves, do a search for "Print Decal" and you should find all kinds of info on how to make your own.

I just finished a plane which has quite a few custom decals on it. I tried two differnt kinds of ink jet decal media and found that the material made by the Bare Metal Foil Co. worked much better than that made by Walther. The HP colour ink seemed to be completely incompatible with the Walther material. Maybe other manufacturer's inks are OK but the HP/Walther combo is definitely a non-no. It's a lot of fun dressing up your plane with decals that are unique to your own project. Good luck with it!

Frank uses R/C car decals. They're larger than 1/24 or 1/32 decals.

I'm going to be making some Vienna Beef decals sometime soon..

How do you get it to stand still long enough to copy it?

The logos used on Frank's airplanes are not decals. They are rub on transfers from ProMark Graphics. These are very expensive as ProMark does not offer the Aero Sponsor transfer sheets as part of thier product line.

They use the 1/8th-1/10th-1/12th R/C Race Car sponsor decals.
Don't think Mr. Werwage has a computer to even print decals, does he?

You should contact Tango Papa Decals (http://www.tangopapadecals.com/) and see what he can do for you. He makes decals primarily for model rockets, but can do custom work for whatever you want. And he sells decal paper if you want to do your own graphics and print your own. He made custom decals for the US Spacemodeling Team (rockets) and they are very nice.
